Fresh Strawberry Danish

You will absolutely love this fresh strawberry danish. It's flaky, buttery and has a delicious lemon cream cheese filling. Each danish is topped with sweet strawberries and a drizzle of vanilla icing.

STEP 1:  Unroll defrosted puff pastry sheets.  Use a 4" Mickey cookie cutter and punch out dough.  Score centers with a round cookie cutter.

STEP 2:  Poke each circle with a fork to ensure the edges rise but the centers remain flat.

STEP 3:  Beat cream cheese, sugar, lemon zest and vanilla together.  Spoon into the center and spread.

STEP 4:  Dice strawberries and toss together with brown sugar, lemon juice and cornstarch.

STEP 5:  Top cream cheese with a tablespoon of strawberry mixture.

STEP 6:  Mix egg yolk with heavy cream.  Brush egg wash along the edges of the dough.

STEP 7:  Bake for 15-17 minutes until golden brown.  Drizzle with vanilla icing.
