    Why This Recipe Works

    • Simple to make- All you need is 4 ingredients and one bowl for this recipe. It's a great appetizer to throw together when you're crunched for time.
    • Halloween fun- This Halloween inspired guacamole is shaped into a witch making it the perfect treat to serve for all the Halloween festivities during spooky season.
    • Kid friendly- This guacamole is a lot more mild than your traditional guacamole. Flavored with just garlic, lime juice and chopped cilantro. The kids will love it, even the pickiest eaters!
    • Healthy- Not only rich in nutrients, like fiber, vitamin C, vitamin E, but this guacamole is also vegan, gluten free and keto friendly!

    Ingredient Notes

    • Avocados- I use Haas avocados in this recipe. Look for semi-soft avocados. Make sure they are not bruised or mushy. The skin will be dark in color almost like the skin of an eggplant.
    • Lime juice- Use freshly squeezed lime juice for the best flavor.
    • Fresh Cilantro- I use only the leaves.
    • Garlic- Always use fresh garlic, it makes a difference. Traditional guacamole does not typically have garlic, but since we're making a simpler version, garlic adds the best flavor. You can also substitute with finely chopped red onion if you prefer.

    Step By Step Ingredients

STEP 1: Scoop out the avocados. Slice avocados in half and remove the pit. Using a spoon, scoop out the flesh of the avocado into a medium size bowl.

STEP 2: Mash avocados. Use a fork to mash the avocados to desired consistency.

STEP 3: Grate garlic. Peel garlic and use a microplane to finely grate into the mashed avocados.

STEP 4: Juice limes. Slice limes into quarters, leaving the center untouched. You will get so much more juice by slicing the lime this way. Next, squeeze lime juice into avocado mixture.

STEP 5: Chop cilantro: Wash and pick cilantro leaves. Using a sharp knife, finely chop cilantro. Then, add to avocados.

STEP 6: Mix guacamole. Last of all, stir ingredients together and season with salt. Serve immediately.

    Witchy Guacamole

This witch is made with our 4 ingredient guacamole and lots of fun, edible elements to make her face come alive! Here are the ingredients and how I made her.

    • Spread guacamole onto a platter or oval shaped bowl.
    • Take hard boiled egg and slice in half. Place eggs in the middle of the dip, cut side up with the yolk exposed.
    • Cut large, pitted green olives in half. Place on top of the egg yolk, followed by sliced kalamata olives for her pupils.
    • Arrange shredded carrots on both sides of the guacamole, as well as on top for her bangs.
    • Place a cornichon beneath the sliced eggs for her nose. Then, add a green pea on top as a wart for some extra witchy details.
    • Slice a mini San Marzano tomato in half. Place under the cornichon to resemble her lips. Add 3 roasted garlic cloves inside the tomato for her teeth.
    • Arrange two strips of red onion above the hardboiled egg eyes for her eyebrows.
    • Lastly, arrange blue tortilla chips in the shape of a witch hat. Voila!

    Expert Tips

Since there is minimal ingredients in this guacamole, make sure the ingredients you do use are all FRESH. It will make a big difference in the flavor.

Choose ripe avocados. Look for avocados that have a dark skin and a little give when you gently squeeze it. I prefer to use Haas avocados because they're rich and super creamy.

Use plenty of salt. Without it, this dip can be very bland. Also, adding salt helps bring out the natural buttery flavor in avocados.

To preserve the green color, squeeze extra lime juice directly on top of the guacamole. Then place a piece of plastic wrap directly on top to prevent it from oxidizing.

    FAQ

    Is guacamole healthy to eat?

Yes, this recipe only has 4 ingredients and they're all fresh without any preservatives or added fat. Plus, the avocados are high in fiber, vitamin C and E. It's the perfect healthy snack.

Can I make this guacamole ahead of time?

Yes, you can. Follow the recipe and add an extra squeeze of lime juice on top of the prepared guacamole. Place a piece of plastic wrap directly on top and press down. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve or assemble.

What else can I eat with guacamole?

Fresh veggies such as carrots, cucumbers or bell peppers. Top off your burger or serve it alongside quesadillas or tacos.

    Storing and Freezing

Store this 4 ingredient guacamole inside an airtight container. Place a piece of plastic wrap directly on top to prevent it from oxidizing. It's best eaten within 2 days.

    Freezing

Since this guacamole doesn't contain water-filled ingredients like tomatoes, onions and jalapeños, its a great candidate for the freezer. Store the guacamole inside a Ziploc freezer bag and squeeze out as much air as possible. Place inside the freezer for up to 3 months.
